This fall, site readiness work will commence for the North/West Battery Park City Resiliency Project — an essential early phase designed to prepare the area for major construction beginning in 2026. Site readiness work focuses on reducing risk and expediting timelines by enhancing understanding of subsurface conditions and ensuring the site is safe and prepared for full-scale construction. Activities will include utility relocation, underground infrastructure assessments, and installation of subsurface tide gate components. While preliminary investigations such as test pits, geotechnical sampling, and marine borings have been ongoing for several years, this fall marks a significant ramp-up in both the intensity and duration of work as the project moves closer to its construction phase.
